I have these shoes that are falling apart and I can’t go to the shoe shop because they are closed. Just because the government closed them all.
But I also have these old shoes that I keep under my bed. I don’t know why I am keeping them. They are just there so I can wear old shoes.
I do find it difficult to throw things away at times. But one day, everything we own will be destroyed by fire. Jesus will return and we will reign with him if we are believers.
How do I know this? In the Bible, it says that 2 Peter 3: 10: ” But the day of the Lord will come unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and everything in them will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be exposed to judgment.” So if you are holding tightly to things just stop and realize these things are loaned to you and the Father has given you them for the time being. We don’t know when the Lord will come back but to be on the winning side with the Lord is the most important thing of all.
All the things that we want to own and possess will one day be burnt up but if we lose our soul and are not on God’s side then we are not going to be happy, to say the least. We must look to ourselves and realize if we need to change things in our lives.
Have we been distracted by our phones by people texting us when we should be praising and worshipping God? Have we been seduced into thinking that all is well with our soul when we are actually under the deceit of sin?
Sin is deceitful. We think we are ok but we have taken on a thought pattern or something is wrong in our thinking. We need to realign with God.
Are we truly keeping God as our Number 1 above our wives/ husbands/friends/parents? Are we being distracted by the lusts of our eyes, our cravings or boasting of what we have or do? (1John 2: 16) It says the man who does the will of God lives forever in 1 John 2: 17.
So as in 1 John 2: 28 we must continue loving God and living the life of a true Christian, loving others, believing the best of others, never complaining, and always looking to encourage others whose faith is lacking. We must continue in being in right standing with God. Continue to endure until Jesus returns. Never give up on God.
